The Hen House
The Hen House

Tregarne, Manaccan, HELSTON, South Cornwall, TR12 6EW

Hidden away in a quiet leafy hamlet you will find this oasis of peace and birdsong, nestled in rich farmland.  The sea is less than a mile at the fishing cove of Porthallow
Three converted farm barns, each with their own front door opening directly into the gardens, surround a fairy-lit courtyard patio.  Set in two acres of fenced grounds there is a large wildflower meadow perfect for dog walks and many quiet corners in which to relax.
Choose from:-
The Bantams Roost self-catering barn with huge french doors and velux windows that flood the room with light.  There is an open plan dining area, lounge, wood burning stove and kitchen.  A separate shower room and galleried bedroom with king size bed.
Mopani barn can be booked for self-catering or B & B and was originally the pig shed of the farm.  This light open plan studio has a king size antique bed, lounge chairs and dining table with 2 chairs.  A bathroom and brand new kitchen lead off this main room.
If you fancy the freedom of cooking your own evening meal but would like to indulge in one of our legendary locally sourced Hen House breakfasts our self catering guests are able to book breakfast
Puno - our spacious other B & B room - is on the ground floor of The Hen House barn with a king size bed, lounge chairs and a bathroom featuring a massive walk in shower.
All rooms have TV, DVD player, radio/CD player, wifi access, tea and coffee facilities and a fridge.
There are a wide range of dog friendly eateries in this area we can recommend.
Tai-chi workshops are complimentary to owners (and dogs!)
Reflexology and Reiki therapies can be booked in our Serpentine sanctuary
This is a perfect location to explore the golden beaches and fishing coves (most dog friendly all year) of The Lizard Peninsula and the stunning cliff top walks.
Meander through the leafy paths edging the Helford river and its creeks full of wading birds - an area made famous by Daphne Du Maurier who loved the area and based “Rebecca” and “Frenchmans Creek” here.
Explore the bridleways across the unique Goonhilly heathland, walk the coastal path for stunning scenery or strike out on a “guided” circular walk using one of the many books we have to loan you.
Add to this, the many arts and craft galleries to visit, magnificent gardens where dogs are welcomed and the picturesque thatched villages of Manaccan, Helford and Cadgwith for the perfect holiday.
For doggie guests we provide:
  • Two acres of enclosed grounds
  • Wild flower field for exercising
